THE PERSON BEHIND THE MUSIC.
ABOUT SONGS FROM THE WIRES
Hi, Im Paul! Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, but my journey into making it wasn’t quite as straightforward as it might sound.
Before I discovered Indie music, I was creating House music.
Then, during my formative years in the 90s, I found myself drawn towards something completely different. I was listening obsessively to Steve Lamacq and John Peel, discovering bands and music that felt exciting, raw and completely different from what I’d heard before.
Indie, Britpop, Grunge, Psychedelia and Pop all started finding their way into my world.
And then came the guitar.

1996 - A SQUIER TELECASTER
In 1996, I bought my first electric guitar — a secondhand Squier Telecaster.
I had no formal lessons. I taught myself.
I became slightly obsessed with watching guitarists play, trying to work out exactly what they were doing. I’d sit watching Later… with Jools Holland, paying far more attention to the guitarist’s fingers than probably anything else going on screen.
I’d watch the shapes they made, where their hands moved, how they attacked the strings — and then I’d pick up my own guitar and try to figure it out.
It was a slow process, but I loved it.
And that curiosity has probably never really gone away.

THE GUITAR & BRITPOP
I started learning guitar in 1996, inspired by the explosion of Britpop and the bands that made me want to pick up an instrument myself.
From there, I disappeared down a rabbit hole of Indie, Grunge, Psychedelia and Pop - and somewhere along the way, music became much more than something I listened to. It became something I wanted to create.

GLASTONBURY & A PLAN
In 2007, after a chance meeting with some like-minded people at Glastonbury, a plan was made: form a band.
04
TIGERSIDE
Later that year, I moved from London to Manchester and formed Tigerside - a Pop/Indie/Electronic band.
Over the next 10 years, I learned an enormous amount about making music from writing and arranging to recording and production. I worked across Indie, Pop, Electronic and even Orchestral music, constantly learning, experimenting and finding new ways to make a song work.
Curious about the music we made? You can listen to the band here.

SONGS FROM THE WIRES
Today, I make music from my own studio, helping other people take the ideas in their heads, rough demos and Al-generated songs and turn them into something real.
Your song. Your idea. Your sound
LET’S MAKE SOMETHING
Have a song you’ve been working on? I’d love to hear it.
